What is important to you when buying a riding lawn mower? The perfect lawn mower for your lawn depends on many things including the size of the lawn and the number of obstacles, such as flower beds, benches, shrubs, greenhouses etc. If you have a large lawn with lots of obstacles and uneven grass, then an easily maneuverable riding lawn mower may be the best mower for your needs. A riding lawn mower that can cope with wet grass,slopes and obstacles and also finely dices the cuttings to provide excellent lawn fertilizer is the just released Husqvarna Rider R155 AWD and it could be just what you need.

One of the most suitable lawn mowers for large, uneven lawns is this new mower from Husqvarna. It is a well built mower that is designed to be very maneuverable, so it is the perfect mower if your lawn has lots of obstacles like flower beds, rockery, paths or trees. The new AWD (all wheel drive) is automatic and loss of traction will force it to engage all of its. When mowing in the rain or on a sloping lawn the Husqvarna Rider handles well.

The rear pair of wheels can swing under the mower, thanks to the exclusive articulated steering system, to also augment the maneuverability. The outcome is superior maneuverability with a 4 inch turning radius at full lock.

The lawn mower has 3 cutting blades and a front mounted deck. Cutting heights can be set between 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches. The front mounted cutting deck gives excellent accessibility into corners and under benches and bushes. Very efficient cutting and mulching is achieved by the 3 cutting blades . When the BioChip is in place the grass clipping are chopped up into mulch and allowed to fall onto the ground as fertiliser.

Although the Husqvarna Rider R155 AWD is expensive (the basic model is more than $US9000) it should provide years of excellent service. Slightly cheaper, but without the AWD, is the Husqvarna Rider R155G2. An excellent choice of riding mower that will have your lawn professionaly finished in no time.

Advantages

* Excellent maneuverability

* Easy to operate

* Good design and built for long life

* Excellent mulching ability

Disadvantages

* Costly

* Difficult to mount

* Engine vibrations can be uncomfortable if ridden on for long periods

In Conclusion

The Husqvarna Rider R155 AWD is a well built, very maneuverable mower that makes mowing a large, uneven lawn with obstacles and slopes, extremely easy. The mulching ability is an excellent idea but the high cost will put this mower out of the reach of many gardeners. Due to it's excellent and anticipated long life it may be a good mower to look out for at seconhand sales in the years to come..
